Can you believe it? It has been exactly a month since Steven and I got married. Bizarre. I don't even know how that much time has passed. We had a marvelous honeymoon, which should have it's own post in the very near future, and have just been getting settled in our new home since returning on September 5th. Steven hasn't started working yet so we spend a lot of time at home watching movies and drinking tea and playing games and eating m&ms. Life is good.
I can't believe I didn't have even one blog entry in August!! I know nobody cares except for me but that was the only month out of the entire last year that doesn't have an entry and it kind of makes me crazy. I meant to write one the day after the wedding just before we left for the honeymoon but things were a bit crazy.
August was a fabulous month. I feel like I was living life in a constant state of madness but I had a marvelous time. Laura and Victoria were here from England and Paige stayed with me for two weeks before the wedding and it was just one of the funnest times ever. Chad and Whitney were here from Boston for 2 weeks and Hilde came home from camp and Chelsea was here and Rachel returned from Hawaii and we were absolutely surrounded by all of our favorite people. It was incredibly overwhelming but I enjoyed it very much.
The wedding was perfect. Absolutely perfect. Couldn't have gone better. Thank you to God for a beautiful day (it was pouring down rain the next morning) and thank you to all of my wonderful friends/family who helped with decorations and baking and made sure that everything went smoothly. Amanda is still working on the photos but we've already seen quite a few of them and they're fantastic! http://sindisiwephotography.com/blog Can't wait to start putting them up around the apartment!!
I'm (kind of) looking for a job. There doesn't appear to be much to find so we'll go with the old "stand-bys" for now. I'm planning to apply to substitute teach and am seriously considering applying at our local Starbucks. Neither of these things sound super appealing to me but I know I can do them and I would really like a paycheck. There are also a few little gift shops in town that could be fun and of course there's South Hill mall in Puyallup, which probably has a few employment options. It's a good time of year to at least find something seasonal. It will sort itself out soon.
Well, I'm sort of treating today as a little anniversary. Nothing fancy and I'm not so sappy that I'll do it every month or be really obsessive about it or anything but I was thinking that maybe the 21st of each month would be a good excuse to make a nice dinner for the two of us to enjoy together. I told Steven he could choose the meal and his only request was "something you make with wine." So I found a recipe for shrimp scampi and I'm going to give it a try. We also have loads of left over wine from the wedding and champagne that was given to us as gifts so we'll probably enjoy some of that tonight as well. We found out on our honeymoon that we really like champagne mixed with ruby red grapefruit juice :) Steven has to go to drill for a few hours tonight but I think I'll make a raspberry tart to have for dessert when he gets him. Evidently this is his favorite dessert that I made and raspberries are on sale at Safeway this week -- score!!
That's all for now but I'll be back soon, I forgot how much I enjoy blogging.
Hugs!
Steph
