The Week at a Glance.

Steven and I climbed Mount Peak on Wednesday. It's a smallish hill-like-mountain-thing about ten minutes from our house and seems to be a rather popular place for people to get a little work out around here. It's not a super exciting hike but it has some nice views of the "plateau." It's strange to me that they call this place the "plateau" because that makes me think of the Sammamish/Issaquah area but anyhow, the sun was out and the mountain was out and it was really pleasant to be outside.

It's a pretty quick trip (and will get quicker if we do it with some regularity as Steven wants to) and you're mostly on this gravel road (though it's much steeper than this for the majority of it) until you get near the top. Then there's a normal dirt/rock trail through the trees to get up to the very top.

Check this out. It's probably the least rewarding hike ever! This is the top. That's it. You're in the trees so you can't see anything. There's just these benches and some rocks and then you turn around and go back down. Lame. By the time we turned around to head back, Mount Peak had been covered by a cloud. It got cold fast but we made it down the hill faster so it wasn't so bad. Then yakisoba for lunch and back home for games.

Thursday wasn't all that exciting but we did finally get the oil changed in both of our cars. The semi-exciting thing about this is that I got to cross it off my to-do list and it's been on there for two months now!! We were pretty over due... We spent the rest of the morning and afternoon running errands. I dropped off my resume for a receptionist position at the animal hospital and met with a lady about helping with childcare for the MOPS program at the local Catholic Church. Then -- big news -- we went to the social security office where I officially changed my name! Yikes! Have I mentioned I'm having a bit of an identity crisis? It's okay though. I'll have to get my new drivers license sometime soon and then we'll really be in business. Since we were in downtown Kent, we stopped at the shopping center to hang out with my mom at Jamba Juice for a bit and we managed to stay long enough so that we got free ice cream at Cold Stone before it was time to go home.

We got to spend Friday in Seattle -- woohoo!!! I didn't realize that I had a gigantic Seattle shaped hole in my life until we were there. It made my heart so happy just walking around Queen Anne. It was cold but the weather was beautiful. We stopped at Kerry Park for a few minutes before making our way over to The Tea Cup (Bombay Market tea -- yum! Apricot and passion fruit). Then a quick stop at Macrina, where we met up with Nicole, and back to Queen Anne Ave. for a visit to Blue Highway. We introduced Nicole to Steven's latest heart-throb, Zombies. He's been pining after this game for a while now. We played it once through and then this 10 year old (ish) boy came over and asked if he could play the next round with us. His name is Daniel. It was really funny slash brave that he asked and it was kind of fun playing the game with him :) We finished the evening with dinner at Hilde's house (spinach lasagna!!) and, of course, the long drive home.

The only other exciting news of the week is that we have a new toaster oven on the way!! For the last ten days or so we've been holding down the button to toast our food and sometimes that doesn't even work (note: I'm demonstrating the button-holding in the photo). Lucky for us we have plenty of Macy's gift-cards left and a new toaster oven has been ordered. I'll post a picture when it arrives :)
