Scott and Kristen came over to visit us this weekend. It was so fun to have them over! We spent the weekend eating all kinds of good food and having some much needed girl time and boy time. After a breakfast of cinnascones and tea on Saturday morning, the boys went straight into the man cave for a few hours of xbox and Kristen and I watched Pride and Prejudice in my room and painted our nails and talked about marriage and work and weird family dynamics and all sorts of fun stuff. It - was - wonderful. We spent much of the weekend like this. When we drove in the car -- Kristen and I sat in the front and the boys sat in the back. When we went for a walk -- the girls walked together and stopped to window shop while the boys powered on ahead of us. When it was time to eat -- the girls hung out in the kitchen making amazing food and the boys stayed in Steven's room and played xbox until the food was ready (they did do the dishes after though, which was super sweet of them!).
Post nail painting we hopped in the car for a quick lunch at Chipotle and then the tour and tasting at Mac & Jack's.
So fun! And quite tasty too.
Boys.
And girls.
What a beautiful day!! After the beer outing we made our way over to the Kirkland waterfront for a nice little walk and a stop at Savrika Tea. Steven and I were seriously bummed when the Tea Cup closed so I was glad to see this new place open in Kirkland a couple of weeks ago. We had a yummy pot of tea -- I think it was called "Fireside Chat" -- and they give you little pieces of chocolate to go with it.
Scott and Kristen brought a bottle of champagne to celebrate our new home and Kristen took this fun photo (I borrowed it from her facebook).
Kristen and I made a fantastic dinner -- chicken pot pie! -- and individual blackberry cobblers in the ramekins she gave me as a housewarming gift. We watched The Avengers while we ate our dessert :)
This morning Kristen and I made waffles and homemade syrup (makes WAY too much syrup but it definitely tasted good) for ourselves and biscuits and gravy for the boys. I just love breakfast. And comfort food in general. And friends. I love them too.
p.s. can you believe tomorrow is October???? I'm so glad. September kicked my butt. I'm looking forward to a fresh start.
